New Events Calendar Support Site in the Works

When I started developing plugins just for fun I never thought that I would create one that would have become so popular. My wife is a bartender and was talking to one of her guests (another plugin author), and he was mentioning a plugin that he had written for WordPress. My wife was chit chatting about some of the things I had done and he was a user of the Events Calendar plugin. I can tell from the traffic on my site that there are many users and I am glad to hear it.

The main issue that has arose from this great response is that I do not have the time I need to provide the support that I would like. I am very grateful to say that I have had numerous people step up and answer questions and others that have helped with development of the plugin. Heirem has been a great benefit and has contributed the latest version of the plugin. :) Heirem has also taken over some support issue at http://heirem.fr. This is great but the only downfall is that the support is now divided into two sites it seems.

To solve these issues I have recently begun development on a new site devoted to the Events Calendar plugin entirely. The new site is located at http://wp-eventscalendar.com. At the moment the site is not setup up for registration, questions, or comments. I want to get it up and running before I start transferring support to new site. From this site, Heirem, myself, and any other developers that may join will be able to focus on questions and respond in a more timely matter.

There are a few things to look forward to at the new site. I am planning on setting up a new forum for the Events Calendar plugin as well a knowledge base and FAQ section. I am taking volunteers now for help with moderating the forum. It would preferably be someone who is fairly familiar with the plugin but it is not necessary. I would like to get a few that way the site will be able to run more smoothly. If you are interested in being a forum moderator or any other asset to the development and support of the plugin please contact me through the contact form on this site. Include some information about yourself and a link to you site if you have one. Thanks in advance for your support. :)

    Hello Heirem!

I recently set up a site using your event calender as one of my widgets. It is absolutlely marvelous and extremely useful! One slight tiny problem I’m facing is the current date. I’m from Asia and my time zone is currently +8 gmt. When I’m posting this, it is currently 12th October. However, when I revert to my calender, the “today” box or the blue box is on 11th October. I’m new at this website thing. Maybe u can give me some advice?

    Thanks
    Josh

    Hi Heirem,

Great plugin…BUT :-) I just did an automatic upgrade of your plugin and BAM!! there goes my Featured Content Gallery. I deactivated your plugin and the Featured content Gallery now works, trouble is, I would like to be able to use your plugin as well. Any help is appreciated. Cheers

I am not able to get to my computer now because I am having some construction done on my house. I an having to check the sites using my phone. These questions might get a faster response at the site hosted by Heirem. His site is http://heirem.fr

I hope to be able to move forward soon on the production on the new site that will be used for support on the Events Calendar plugin.

  4. Great plugin, where is the info on what shortcodes or php to insert into a page for the large calendar? I was able to install the widget just fine, but the large calendar install info is nowhere to be found that I can see.

This is a great plugin and does exactly what i needed. I have just started a music festival site so this plugin is going to be a major feature of the site. I am grateful for the continued updates too, this great product just gets better.
    Congratulation!

Have you tested to see if this will work with WordPress 2.6.3 ? I would really like t install this but wanted to check with you to see if it works with the newest wordpress.

  10. Stewart says:

    Sarah,

I am currently using the Events Calendar plugin on a WP 2.6.3 installation and it is working fine for me.

  11. Stewart says:

    Shannon,

The code for the large calendar is [[EventsCalendarLarge]] , this is documented in the readme.txt file included with the plugin.

    Hi Luke!

I’m making an events calendar for things to do in my community, and I want to find a way to make it possible for other people to add their events to the calendar so I don’t have to manually type in all the info myself. I’d need to moderate it, so I approve posting of events after I ok them. Is this something that’s possible to add, and if so, how much of a donation would you require? ;)

Thanks for the great plugin!! I have a quick question. How do I change the three letter abbreviation sequence from Mon – Sun to Sun – Sat?

    Thanks in advance.

Im using WordPress 2.7 and Events Calendar 6.5.2.1. My problem is the events that I posted doesn’t appear on the Large Calendar. I’ve done deactivating and activating the plugin and try a post but still the event does’nt appear in my events calendar. here is the link: http://eaa.edu.ph/schedules/seminars/ . The post that I’ve made last december and january is working, but in the month of february is a problem. Additional… I noticed that in the page of January, you can see and operate the links going to the December 2008 and to the February. Then, if the page is in the month of February, I noticed that the link for the January and March isnt showing. Because of that, I cant see the other month using the shortcuts at the events calendar instead I will go back to the home page and start all over again. Needed an urgent reply. Thank you very much.

I am interested in getting a copy of the event calendar. I went to Luke Howell, but I could not find a contact window or an e-mail address to ask questions.

I you can get back to via e-mail maybe we can hook-up via telephone. I like the simplicty of the calendar and the small presentation which you can put on any page

Hi, Your plugin is the best plugin that I already tested. But, when I put on widgets It has a problem with “Featured Content Gallery” plugin. Do you know what I need to do?

  17. Luke says:

I believe this has been rectified in the version that is currently in the development stage. I will do some looking to be sure.

    Hi Heirem,
The plugin looks great! I just have a minor question for you and I hope you can help me.
I installed the Events Calendar plugin in a web site I am producing in WP, but when I post a new event, it takes it directly to the category id=1, and I would like to define a different category for all events. Category 1 is already in use for another kind of content, and it does not make sense to use the same general category for events, if I already have a specific area for this.
In which file and part of the code I can determine the category (in my case, I want to change cat_id=1 to id=7) ? I would like to say thank you in advance for your work and look forward to receiving your help.
