With the support of other developers there is a new beta version of the Events Calendar in the works. There are new additions and some bug fixes added. Support will be handled through two sites now. The site besides mine that will be handling support is http://heirem.fr
Keep a watch on these sites for important updates.
Hi Luke,
I have just updated my Events Calendar to the latest version (6.5) and now my calendar is blue white and grey (rather than black and white like before) and the only dates that people can see are the red ones that have events assgined to them.
Is there a way for me to change the colours? And how do I get the other dates back to being visible.
If you visit my site: http://www.greysgabble.com you will see it on the Right sidebar.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Also there is a conflict with this plugin and register plus.
http://skullbit.com/wordpress-plugin/register-plus/
There was a page as to exactly why but I can’t find it anymore.
Anyway help with the aesthetics of the calendar would be great. Thanks.
I would love to use your events calendar plugin. The main thing it is missing is the option to choose a category from the WP categories. Any idea if or when you could update this plugin? I would be willing to manually add the categories to the posts if it were in the near future??
Thanks… Great widget!
Nina
Have another sugguestion.. that would be to be able to call just a certain month on a page
thus allowing for content to be associated with that month
I installed the newest version of your events calendar on http://www.kevinkanner.com
For some reason, none of the events are showing up in the new version. However, they are available on the admin side. Any ideas on how to remedy this problem?
The new version of the calendar is great but it does appear to have one vital flaw. I now cannot add any new events!
Ive check the db and the new events are not being added. I have managed to delete old events so its not a case of db access.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Nevermind. I figured out how to edit the CSS and now it fits in better with the site.

I am getting a file stream warning which is hard to supress on this hosted account is there anything I can do about this?
I have checked the paths and file is present and permissions are fine.
I was tempted to comment out line 42 but am not sure of the impact
Hi. I have installed the calendar plugin on 2.6.1 and maybe thats the issue, but It is not showing any events from the next months, or has the next – prev months buttons. Also, when I create a new event and check create post for event, no post is added. On the sidebar the calendar is there and the lightbox works to show this months event, but as the next month button is missing I cant click to see them.
Any thoughts?
Great plugin though!
Rob
I’m getting the line 42 problem as well: Warning: file_get_contents(): URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /home/content/m/a/r/marinevilla/html/sailing/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/ec_calendar.class.php on line 42
But I don’t really know how to fix it. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help – I’m happy to have the Events Calendar! It’s critical to our neighborhood site but I don’t have the technical skills to create such a thing. Thank you!! Cheers!
Further to my previous post (post no 4) Ive since upgraded my version of WordPress from 2.6.0 to 2.6.1
Now the Events Calendar does indeed post the event, but instead I get two different errors. One is that is I create a post to link to the event then it actually creates the post twice for some reason?? The other is a date error, which I have copied below:
Warning: date() [function.date]: Windows does not support dates prior to midnight (00:00:00), January 1, 1970 in D:\home\Default\triathlon.forwardslashmedia.co.uk\htdocs\wp-content\plugins\events-calendar\ec_js.class.php on line 176
This is (supposed) to be ) such a simple calendar so it would be great if I ever actually get it working.
Hello. Is it possible to somehow change the English moths and days representation on the event calendar with Serbian?
I am having a similar problem – when going to the calendar when implanting it to a page, and hovering over an event it shows Start time: End time: but is blank for both entries, I got to the entry under admin and it has times in there that I selected from the pulldown menu.
I downloaded 6.5 from your french buddy, installed, deactivated, activated, and now its all good, times show up. btw it was acting goofy until i deactivated and reactivated – maybe some caching.
I have belarusian locale for Event Calendar. Are you want this?
And this plugin must have small correction for correct working with utf-8.
=== ec_calendar.class.php ===
/**
* Displays the Widget Calendar
*/
…
$code_page = get_option(‘blog_charset’);
…
$title = htmlentities(ucfirst($month_name),ENT_COMPAT,$code_page).” ”.$year;
=============
and this edition must be in all rows with “htmlentities”.
Sorry for my grisly english…
And in ‘events_calendar.php’ i make this edition:
…
setlocale(LC_ALL, “be_BY.UTF-8″);
…
May be anybody have most beautiful solution.
Thx
Hello, I tried to contact you but the e-mail page is broken… nice plugin thanks, I added the italian translation and I like to send it to you so you can include it in the next version: please, contact me.
Also a suggestion: the “Create Post for Event” option is nice but you shoud give a wider textarea and allow to choose from wordpress categories.
Hello,
Nice plugin. I also found that deactivating and activating solves some problems. What i would like is both the calendar and the events (not one or the other). Is that possible?
Thanks for all the work you put in
Is there anyway that this could be linked to iCal integration?
Something to add in the new version(?):
At the end (december) and beginning (january) of the year, I see, when I browse through the public calendar: “«November December 2008 »”, so I miss January 2009/January/2009 here. The calendar at the options panel DOES show january.
Further: Dutch language files:
http://joy.robertlindeboom.nl/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/lang/events-calendar-nl_NL.po.html
http://joy.robertlindeboom.nl/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/lang/events-calendar-nl_NL.po
http://joy.robertlindeboom.nl/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/lang/events-calendar-nl_NL.mo
Keep up the good work!
Oh, by the way: your email page doesn’t work.
And there should be a small manual about translating the events calendar, especially the fist step:
1) Turn off the event-calendar widget
2) copy the new/updated .mo and .po file to the ‘lang’ directory
3) Turn the widget (if you used it) back on
Edit: fiRst
(sorry for spamming your commentpage, you may merge my posts)
By the way, the eventcalendar says (only in january): januari2009 instead of januari 2009
I have a.mo and .po file as the German language module. Upon request, I send them to interested parties.
Greeting Thomas
I tried version 6.5 with WP 2.6.1 .
But theres a bug somewhere: when i want to go to the previous/next mont,
the calendar disappears.
can’t wait for an update on this!
keep up the good work guys!
^^ oh, nevermind. tried the new version today, and it seems to work fine now.
The events calendar is great!
I have a request for an update. I think it would be beneficial to add a form in the add event area which would enable you to schedule on going events that are weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. For instance an event scheduled every monday or the third thursday of every month.
Also on that note I think it would be beneficial to put the names of the days of the week at least on the top of the large calendar.
Other than that the plugin is awesome and very easy to use. Thanks.
Scratch the names of days above the calendar. I figured out how to work the options for that. Thanks. Proves how even more awesome the plugin is!
To fix the Warning: file_get_contents() error you have to edit the php.ini file in your hosting server.
change the value from : allow_url_fopen = Off
to: allow_url_fopen = On
This value is often set as Off to avoid vulnerability problems.
Now i have a question, how can i call the callendar out of the widget? whats the php function to call it alone.
Thanks
Have you considered adding support for repeating events? For example, I may have an event that happens every Monday or the third Friday of every month.
This would be very helpful.
Hi Luke,
thanks for your widget, it’s great.
I have a question for you, I have the calendar in list view in my sidebar, I am in the UK and we write the date as Day/Month/Year, so I would like to change the widget around, can you tell me where I might be able to do this.
Cheers
Hi Luke,
I small bug I am finding, I cannot seem to scroll past December 2008.
I click january, and it just thinks about it, and re-displays December.
Thoughts?
