New Digsby Plugin

May 22, 2008 · Posted in Wordpress Plugins

Digsby is a multiprotocol IM client that lets you chat with all your friends on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, and Jabber with one simple to manage buddy list. Digsby also includes options to check email and stay in touch with your favorite social networks like Myspace and Facebook.

With Wordpress Digsby you can place a widget on your WordPress site so you can chat with visitors right from Digsby. Digsby is required to be installed on your local computer for you to be able to chat with users on you website.

Check out more about at the links below or click the “Chat With Me” link at the top of this page to see the plugin in action and talk to me.

How do I add a pop-up window for the digsby, like in your site?

You can use the following code to put a link in your site.

    < ?php wpDigsbyLink("YourTitle");?>

You can put it anywhere. I did the following on my site at the end of the header.

  7. < ?php wpDigsbyLink("YourTitle");?>

Is there some code so that instead of displaying a text link, I can just use the digsby character as an icon link?

ie. digsby character displays on blog and when clicked on it opens the chat window.

    Thanks.

Not at the moment but if you want to do it manually for now you could do this.

    <a href="http://www.lukehowell.com/wordpress?digsby=activate" target="_blank" class="digsbyLink" rel="nofollow"><img src="path to image" /></a>

    Thanks, worked like a champ!

You should definitely add the character-based option to the plugin.

Hi Luke, I really like your plugin. I am kind of a WP dummy, but when i first installed it, it worked really well. Now I can’t see the -> to scroll to a previous or next month anymore. The calender is in the event section. Did I do something wrong? Can you please help me? Thanks in advance. Hilde

Great plugin. I tried various live help scripts and apps but this one’s straightforward and just does the job I want it for. Thanks Luke, you’re a champ!
