Events Calendar – Version 5.7.10 **Supports k2 Sidebar Module!!!**

After multiple requests support for K2 sidebar modules has been added. When you extract the plugin you will see a new folder. If you are not using K2 sidebar modules then there is nothing extra you need to do. If you are wanting to use this as a K2 sidebar module you will have to upload a file to the K2 theme. The file is located in the plugin folder under the folder k2-module. This file inside must be uploaded to the k2 module folder. The directory is as follows: wp-content/themes/k2/app/modules

Let me know how this works out for everyone and spread the word. Enjoy!

I added and have updated now to the latest but the event calender pulls down the side bar below or pulls down the main column (depending upon the theme). this especially true with internet explorer ver 6. i am not sure about ver 7. even in opera and firefox it is oerlapped by the main menu. any solution for this. thanks.

  2. Rauli says:

I tested what it does when trying to import Google Calendar. I now have “Fatal Cache Error” under my Events Calendar admin tab and I can’t edit any events. How to remove this error?

  3. Oliver says:

Luke, thanks for this great plugin! It’s almost perfect. There’s maybe one feature that I would like to see: the ability to specify an URL for an event which turns the event text into a text link if the url is specified.

  4. Psycho Dad says:

    Hi Luke,
i’ve installed your nice PlugIn, but with my used Theme the “hoover effect” to show the details for an event, doesn’t work.

With the “WordPress Classic” Theme it works.

Which changes i’ve to made on my theme to work with Events Calendar?

    Thanks and kind regards

  5. vas says:

    Luke
I am holding back changing the theme jus to ensure that you have a look at the problem of the events calender pulling down the main column and in some themes side bar (if it is in the right) making life miserable. hope you bring in some change.

  6. vas says:

I think it is some thing to do with the week names inthe calender. mon, tue, wed… iso m,t,w etc.,

  7. vas says:

    Luke Howell,
u launch a new mod version and this is what is your response. I am disappointed. sorry.

  8. vas says:

my sincere apology. Thanks for your response thru the email. but i expected thru this blog. i will see what i can do. once again my sincere apology. i was drunk!

  9. Luke says:

No problem. I usually try to respond to comments here but I occasionally I get the email notifications from comments and the contact form mixed up. Anyways, I’ve spouted off at the mouth before when being drunk. No worries. :)

  10. Jim says:

Luke, I’ve just installed this version of the plugin and I have no calendar sub-tab in my dashboard. Any idea why? The widget is right where it’s supposed to be, though.

  11. Luke says:

That is a problem that some have had but I have not found a solution yet because I have not been able to reproduce it yet. I am still looking for a solution to this. I will post as soon as I have something.

  12. vas says:

[quote]It the widget(sidebar) options of the plugin you have the ability to
change the way the days are displayed. If you display them with two
letter abbreviation instead of three letter this should solve tis problem.

    [/quote]

where exactly to find. i did try to find my way. Thanks in advance.

  13. Jennifer says:

I have the same problem as Jim, I installed the plugin and there’s no calendar sub-tab in my dashboard. I’m on WP 2.3.2.

  14. nicki says:

I discovered that activating the widget forces the calendar sub-tab to show up under the dashboard.

  15. Anthony says:

Are there installation instructions for this plugin anywhere? Also, what are the requirements. I activated the plugin on my site but am unsure how to call it on a page and add events in the admin of my site.

    Many thanks in advance.

  16. Tore says:

I too am having problems finding any options tab. I have looked everywhere. Under Dashboard too. Nothing. :(

I’m also having problems finding the documentation. ;) Does this support events as a sidebar list? These mini calendars look neat but it’s not practical for users to have to click on every single date in order to learn what goes on.

Don’t give up! The world needs a working event calendar!

  17. Dan says:

I have tried to install your plugin and it does not work. like Jennifer and Jim received. I have tried activating it and deactivating it. I am using WP 2.3.2 – Thanks

  18. iani says:

    Congrats for the plugin!
How can I add a link to an event on the calendar. I didn’t figure it out. There are “Title” “Location” “description” in Dashboard…

  19. GrillSgt says:

    Hi Luke,

I ust upgraded event calendar to the latest version and now the tool tip descriptions don’t work anymore. I get four errors on my blog pages, all the same: tipobj.style is null or not an object. This was working before I upgraded to WP 2.3.3 and you’re latest version. Any suggestions?

  20. GrillSgt says:

BTW, Iforgot to mention, I really like your event calndar plugin. Good job.

  21. Luke says:

That is usually a problem with the theme footer.php file missing a line. Add the following line

    < ?php wp_footer();?>

  22. Benito says:

    Hi Luke,
Before posting here, I tried everything with no success. My blog is not in english, I succeeded translating everything from the admin section to the display section but the way the weekdays display in the sidebar. For some odd reason (even after editing locale.php and the language file, they are still in English ‘M T W T …”, any hint you can give on why this is happening and what file should be altered in order to modify this?
    Thanks.

  23. Luke says:

I don’t know a lot about language files and have been basically just uploading them from others. If anyone else has come across this and has a solution could you please let Benito know.

  24. Suzanne says:

I am having several different issues with this.

    1) There is no sub-menu beneath Dashboard. Where do you go to manage this?
    2) How to I include the calendar on a page?

  25. Don says:

Great plugin Luke – Thanks for your hard work. The only additions I would find helpful would be: the ability to create a recurring event (so I don’t have to enter it over and over); the ability to input times in AM/PM instead of 24 hr.; and, the ability to have people other than admins enter dates (permission-based). Again – thanks!

  26. juan says:

Luke, I am trying to get the plugin working, I use thunderbirds addon for editing a .ics calendar located on my site. I entered the info for my calendar and after that, all the info under the events calendar tab disappeared. ALl of the options and settings are gone, just a blank page (except for the wordpress bar and stuff). weird, huh? Any ideas? Thanks.

  27. Luke says:

I will try and see if I can reproduce that and find out what the problem is. Off the top of my head I have no idea. If anyone else has any thoughts please let me know.

  28. 3i3i says:

I try to publish ical google calendar, event cal don’t work and i can’t go back to edit events to delete ical external link.

  29. 3i3i says:

Sorry, i delete external link database entry and it works but i can’t link ical google external calendar. by, tanks.

  30. terpmeister says:

    Luke,

Had the same issues as juan when I hooked it to the .ics file. I took a look at the error log on my server and had this:

[03-Mar-2008 10:06:17] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/redmutt/public_html/irbw/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/ics/ICS_File.php on line 155

For giggles I changed the permissions on the cache directory to 777 and now receive this error (same results, blank screen in Events Calendar tab and nothing on the site):

[03-Mar-2008 10:28:24] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/redmutt/public_html/irbw/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/ics/ICS_Parse.php on line 155

    Hope that helps…

  32. Luke says:

I really know nothing about the translations. I have been adding stuff as I get it from others. I will take a look but if anyone else has an idea about it let us know.

  33. David says:

I love the calendar. Keep up the good work. The one (big) problem I have is the issue of when I updated the calendar to 5.7.10 it kept my events (from the old version)but the tab to enter new events disappeared. It didn’t seem to make a difference what version of wordpress I used 2.3.2 or 2.3.3. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Thanks!

  34. Thomy Kay says:

Hm, I do see the widget, but the admin page is missing.

  35. Joe G says:

“Fatal Cache Error” in Events Calendar – Version 5.7.10, wordpress 2.3.3. Was fine until I clicked on the ical link to check it out.deactivated, deleted the plugin directory, re-unzipped, reactivated the plug in, still get error. Seem a couple of posts here and there about this cache issue but none had any answers. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
    Joe

  36. Rauli says:

Adding line breaks in the event description causes description tooltips not to show. Form handling should clean them!

  37. GrillSgt says:

    Hi Luke,

Thanks for the response. I have that code snippet in my footer, but the same errors occur… no details pop up.

    Thx for your help.

  38. Jazia says:

so, to correct the week days name in calendar just insert in display.class.php this code:
    setlocale (‘LC_TIME’, ‘en_US’);
and change en_US in your language code.

if someone have a black background and don’t see the number of the days just paste this code:
    } else $calendar .= “$day”;

in display.class.php (just search and replace the code in file).

    bye bye

  39. Jazia says:

sorry… something wrong with my comment, i mean to replace with this code:
    “”$day”"
the similar you find in display.class.php

  40. Jazia says:

    OMG! i hate html code!!
    so… mail me for help!

  41. Wayne says:

I installed your awesome event calendar, I added the missing footer line but I still get get a page loaded but with errors and no pop-up over events. Any ideas?

  42. Roj says:

Great plugin Luke! Thanks. The first time I installed the plugin, my site was in maintenance mode using maintenance mode plugin. The events calendar under manage tab doesn’t appear. What I did is deactivate the maintenance mode plugin then reactivated events calendar then it works. Hope that helps others. Luke, is there a way that I can add the calendar in any page like the one on the admin? Thanks again
